ICSID today released its 2019 Annual Report, featuring an in-depth look at the Centre's activities over the past fiscal year (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019). Features include:
- Messages from ICSID’s Secretary-General and the Chair of the Administrative Council
- An update on ICSID Membership, including new Contracting and Signatory States
- The latest designations and re-designations to the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators
- A detailed report on ICSID’s caseload trends over the last year
- Special features on the rule amendment process and ICSID’s new hearing facilities
- An overview of ICSID’s extensive outreach and training activities
- Statements on the Centre's revenue and expenses
Highlights from the 2019 fiscal year include:
- Mexico ratified the ICSID Convention on July 27, 2018, becoming the 154th ICSID Member State. Djibouti became the latest signatory to the Convention on April 12, 2019
- ICSID Member States made 51 designations to the ICSID Panels, bringing the overall number of Panel appointees to 680
- 52 new cases were registered and a record 59 cases concluded
- ICSID published two working papers on proposed amendment to its procedural rules and held over 75 consultations with States and the public
- ICSID opened a new state-of-the-art hearing centre in Washington, D.C.
